“Steadying the Mind – Opening to Insight”
An Online Retreat with Bob Stahl
Mindfulness Utah is happy to host a spring online retreat with Bob Stahl, PhD. Bob is the founder of eight Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs in medical centers in the San Francisco Bay Area and is currently offering programs at Dominican Hospital and El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos and Mt. View. Bob also serves as a Senior Teacher for the Oasis Institute for Mindfulness-Based Professional Education and Training at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and Brown University Mindfulness Center. Bob is coauthor of 5 books: A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook, Living With Your Heart Wide Open, Calming the Rush of Panic, A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook for Anxiety, and MBSR Everyday. Bob is the guiding teacher at Insight Santa Cruz and a visiting teacher at Spirit Rock and Insight Meditation Society.
This traditional insight meditation retreat will offer silent periods of sitting and walking meditation as well times for practice discussions.
Each day there will be a talk and systematic meditation instructions on the four foundations of mindfulness that are embedded in lovingkindness. These teachings and practices will emphasize quieting the mind, opening the heart, and developing clarity, wisdom, and compassion; and foster the depth of practice.
This retreat is suitable for anyone wishing to deepen their practice and cultivate further understanding of mindfulness meditation. It may also be of interest to those teaching or aspiring to teach mindfulness in healthcare, psychology, education, science, government, or in the business and corporate sectors. See Below for a sample schedule. The final schedule will be released a couple of weeks before the retreat begins.
Dates: Friday, March 5th – Wednesday, March 10th, 2021 (Note: The retreat will begin Friday evening at 7:30PM and will end on Wednesday, March 10th at 12:30PM.)
Place: Online via Zoom
Bob has offered many online retreats since the onset of COVID-19 and has found that the Zoom platform is very user friendly and offers a way for us all to stay safe and still connect with one another, practice together, and explore how it feels to retreat at home and practice integrating our retreat experience into our daily lives.
